Hey, Oakland! Step into an Iron Worker's boots for a day

Are you looking for a hands-on event this SteelDays? Join Iron Workers Local 377/378 and AISC for an event like no other. You’ll tour a variety of different training stations that will allow you to experience what an ironworker does on a daily basis on a jobsite, such as welding, flame-cutting, beam rigging, column climbing, and more--plus, you’ll learn how to make the most of IMPACT and AISC resources on your next project, AND earn one (1) continuing educaiton PDH credit for attending. The tour will take roughly two hours. Be sure to wear long pants (jeans preferred) and closed-toe shoes. No sleeveless shirts allowed.

This event will have two parts: a presentation on the utilization of SidePlate Connection Design and a project site tour at Atrium Health New Bed Tower. The presenters are Cory Byrd with SidePlate and Jonathan Mertz with SteelFab. Participants will be required to provide their own PPE (Hard hat, safety glasses, vest, and steel toed boots). This meeting is free for members or applicants with membership form/dues, and $25 for nonmembers. Please make your reservation to attend by 5:00 pm on Monday, October 14th. Join us in partnership with Open House New York (OHNY) for an exclusive tour where you'll get a behind-the-scenes look at the craftsmanship and innovation that drive one of Brooklyn's leading steel fabricators. Explore the journey from drawing to finished steel product as we walk you through the fabrication process, highlighting the precision, skill, and technology involved. This is an active industrial site. Attendees must wear long pants (no shorts, skirts, or dresses) and close-toed shoes (no sandals or heels). Safety glasses are recommended and will be available on-site. Visitors must be 18 or older to join a tour. A waiver and release of liability must be signed upon arrival. There will be three separate tours: 8:00am, 9:30am, 11:00am. **Registration opens October 8**

You’ll have the opportunity to weld, flame-cut, work a bolting station, climb a column, and more--plus, you’ll learn how to make the most of IMPACT and AISC resources on your next project, AND earn one (1) continuing educaiton PDH credit for attending. Bring safety goggles and hard hats if you have them (we will have a number of loaners available) and be sure to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes (work boots are advised). No sleeveless shirts allowed.

2024 Steel Day Welding Competition

Join us for our 2024 Steel Day Welding Competition. This year a total of $40,000 in Rex I Lewis Scholarships will be awarded to the top 30 competitors to help further their education at any Wyoming Community College. High school juniors and seniors from as far as 500 miles away will participate in a multi-day skill and knowledge competition. The top 30 finalists will be on hand at Puma Steel on the 18th for a final round that will challenge their skills even more. Cheyenne Mayor Patrick Collins will be present to award students their scholarships. We will have a raffle for students and will be giving away $5,000 worth for prizes.
